Oh gosh, if there was anything that Tanis really hated, it was getting caught in a cliche, but here she was standing on the rim of a Grecian fountain -- in Athens, no less. It wasn't her fault that her sister lived in such a... traditional location (nor was it Athena's fault that it was her city to live in).

Since the start of summer vacation from Darenia's, Tanis had been all over the place. However, after her cellphone battery died for a couple weeks, her mum had decided to make plans for the rest of her holiday.

And by plans she meant baby sitting.

This week was with Athena and Eris, next week would be Poseidon, followed by a weekend with Apho-dike-bitch. Tanis would be amazed if the mortal realm survived those two days of -- well, not Hell. Perhaps she'd be able to convince her mum to let her stay at Nova's for a month.

Lukis was pissed. He had come to Athens on some information given to him from his friend in Apple Corp., some type of secret meeting about a new computer program. He had hoped to find the meeting and tweak the program to make it into a buggy piece of crap, but he gotten a call from his friend telling Lukis that he had gotten the date wrong and the meeting wasn't for another 2 weeks. Lukis ended that call by frying the guy's cellphone.

He had been walking around, admiring the city and its beautiful architecture, while taking his frustration on any piece of technology in the area. He had just finished with downing an entire net cafe and was making his way toward a square with a large fountain in the middle. He decided to fry some of the laptops and cellphones he saw people using while sitting on the benches that circled the square.

He had just reached the center fountain and started circling it when he saw a cellphone hanging from the belt of a girl walking on the rim of the fountain. First victim, he smiled to himself as he started to will the cellphone battery to melt.

It would have worked, had the cellphone not had a Ward placed on it. Lukis had just enough time to appreciate the complexity and power of the ward before it lashed back at him.

[ooc: A Demon Ward? Tanis... isn't a demon... the ward part is fine, but I'm going to fix the other bit.]

Tanis snorted haughtily at the kid who was thrown half-way across the square by her cellphone's security ward. Usually touching it was what garnered such a blast, however this guy seemed to have some sort of affinity for technology. An affinity he had tried to use to break her weapon of choice.

That was not a very smart thing to do to Tanis Greeneyes' property, let alone her phone.

She removed the cellphone from her belt and pointed it at him visciously.

"Would you like to see it while it's not in standby mode, foolish boy?"

[ooc] Put demon ward, as in a ward against a demon since Lukis is one. But it is your phone so....yeah

Lukis had hit the ground hard and it took him a couple seconds to get his brain to stop free-floating in his skull. Damn, that was way too strong was the only thought he had before she pointed her phone at him and made her threat. He decided he had better apologize, before he tried to fight the person behind that type of power.

"Sorry, sorry. Just doing my job and didn't properly check who's phone I was messing with," he apologized as he picked himself off the ground.

Dusting himself off, and hoping the girl didn't have an itchy trigger finger, he bowed and introduced himself with a grin. Lukis Legionspawn at your service, again sorry for the trouble. Just had a bad day and decided to fill my quote for the day. Anyway, before you try to kill me, would you be willing to tell me your name and who made that phone?

He started focusing on his hotel room to teleport to if she did decide to kill him.

[ooc: what good is a ward if it only protects against something so specific... anyways, much love for unknowingly doing something tied into the title of the thread]

Tanis fixed the demon with a narrow glare. "One of Nova's, I guess I'm not allowed to kill you then."

An irritated sniff was the only sound she made as she placed her phone back on her belt.

"The name's Tanis. Tanis Greeneyes. I'm Nova Morningstar's roommate at D.I.E. You know, the daughter of your overlord? To answer your question, my mom made my phone."

Tanis was going to have to talk to Nova about this. It was likely the little hellion would just laugh in her face, but perhaps there would also be a fireball thrown in this boy's general direction as well.

Seeing Tanis put her phone away, Lukis allowed himself to relax a little and drop the focus on his hotel room. He should have figured out who she was by the scar on her nose and the cell phone. Nova had mentioned Tanis before to him, and he hoped that Nova wouldn't fry his ass later for this.

Focusing at the situation at hand he slowly walked over to Tanis. stopping in front of her, and he again bowed to her."Thanks for not trying to kill me. I should have made sure of who owned the phone. Anyway, since I screwed up, I am obligated to offer you my services, such as they may be."

He rose, then stared at the phone for a second. "Your mother does great work by the way. I'm no weakling with technology, but I don't think Satan himself could get past that type of security."

OOC: our internet went down, and by the time I finally got back to this I was wiped. I see you're online right now so I'll be posting here first.

"That's kind of the point," Tanis admitted. "This one time mom found out Lucifer was stealing our cable, hoooooo boy I've never seen her so pissed. She wanted to make sure he wasn't running up our phone bill, too."

"Anyways, the only service you can offer me in return that I would accept would be if you kept me entertained and/or were hiding a bag of Salt and Vinegar chips somewhere on your person."

Tanis looked at the surroundings. She was hungry again, something she never understood, it's not like any of the gods needed to eat, so why did they get hungry? Not caring to dwell on the subject, Tanis spotted a tiny bakery on the corner nearby. It didn't look like the kind of place that would take mum's plastic, but Tanis had taken to carrying many types of currency with her.

"Do you eat?" she asked Lukis sharply.

[ooc] By the way, do you want me to change the color for my speech? I just use green by default.

Lukis chuckled. "I remember the cable incident. Someone from my department helped him with it, got promoted for it too."

Now at ease, knowing Tanis wasn't going to fry him, he smiled pointed behind himself. "I eat, just don't choose any place back there. They won't be able to make anything for us. And I didn't bring anything with me accept sunflower seed."

"So, what were you doing here before I came to alleviate your boredom?" He asked as he started to follow her to a corner of the square.

OOC: no, it's fine, it's mainly so that the dialog sticks out more than the rest of the post. it's better to stick to the color you have, it'll be easier to recognize your posts in other threads because it's like, green = either Tanis or Lukis, etc.

"Nothing really, I was just trying to see how long it would take before my pacing started to create a dent in the earth," Tanis told him, rolling her eyes.

She gave startled looking baker enough money for a loaf of fresh, sweet-smelling bread. He had apparently observed Lukis being thrown across the square by nothing. Tanis decided to also give him a head shake that said, "Just don't ask, we'll be going away in a moment."

Turning back to Lukis and walking past him, Tanis said, "I never fully understood the point in eating sunflower seeds. They're not filling, they're overly salted, and you have to spit constantly because you can't eat the shell. If you're going to eat seeds, at least get peanuts -- they're bigger."

Before answering Tanis, Lukis realized he hadn't eaten since yesterday's breakfast and that made his stomach remember too. He walked up to the baker and got himself a small loaf of a very crusty and dense bread. The baker, taking Tanis's subtle advice, didn't even look at Lukis as he handed over the heavy loaf. Turning around, he bit into the bread, relishing the loud cracking noise it made.

Still chewing, Lukis walked quickly next to Tanis and answered her. "I don't know about anyone else, but I just eat the sunflower seeds for the flavor and they taste better than peanuts. Plus, the salt helps me to use my electricity more effectively."

Lukis might have talked more, but his stomach growled and he started tearing into his bread.

She had to hand it to the boy, at least he had a reason for needing too-salty food. Tanis also enjoyed a diet heavy in sodium, but her food intake had never affected her ability to smite people. Part of that could have been due to her constant lack of ability to fully control her smiting, but that wasn't something she liked to advertise.

Tanis smirked to herself as she listened to Lukis tear into his bread. Ripping a hunk of bread off her own loaf, she placed the rest in her messenger bag and started taking huge bites out of what was left in her hand.

"So what's an out-of-towner like you doing here in Athens?"

[ooc]For the love of the gods, don't hurt me. My internet has been out and I have been unable to post.

Lukis finished masticating the last bite of his bread, as he had already eaten half the loaf, and put the rest into the cargo pocket of his shorts. "Well, I was supposed by ruining a bigwig's meeting for Apple with a little software sabotage, but the info was bad. I'm stuck here for a couple weeks until the meeting actually happens. Can't teleport home because I suck at it and I don't plan on getting stuck in the ocean."

Lukis turned to Tanis. "Actually, I don't mind being here, but I still have a quota to fill. I try not to make a habit of messing with a god's territory, even if it is my job. You don't think Athena will mind too much if I disrupt the order of her city for a while, do you?", he asked her as she ate her hunk of bread.
